Formulate Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Formulate mobile application, including its DoseProof supplement-scanning features, and the getformulate.app website (together, "the Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
Quick summary (read this first)
- Formulate gives you educational information about supplement ingredients and doses, based on published research. It is not medical advice.
- The free tier includes a limited number of scans per day. Pro is a paid subscription billed through the App Store or Google Play — cancel anytime in your store account settings.
- Don't abuse the Service, scrape it, or use it to harm others.
- We can update these Terms; material changes get 14 days' notice in the app.
1. Who can use Formulate
You must be at least 13 years old (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) to use the Service, and at least 18 to purchase a subscription. The supplement information in Formulate is intended for adults. By using the Service you confirm you meet these requirements.
2. What the Service is (and isn't)
Formulate analyzes supplement labels and barcodes and compares the labelled ingredients and doses against ranges used in published research. Verdicts, evidence grades, and explanations are educational content.
The Service is not:
- Medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nothing in the app is a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
- A guarantee that a supplement is safe, effective, or suitable for you.
- A recommendation to take, or stop taking, any product.
If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or nursing, or take prescription medication, consult a healthcare professional before acting on anything in the app.
3. Accuracy of information
We work hard to keep our ingredient library, evidence grades, and label parsing accurate, but we can't promise perfection. Label scans depend on image quality; product databases contain third-party data; research evolves. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Always verify against the physical product label before relying on a scan.
4. Your account
- You sign in with a one-time email code. You're responsible for keeping access to your email account secure.
- You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- You can delete your account (and the data associated with it) at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. See our Privacy Policy for details on data handling.
5. Subscriptions and payments
5.1 Free tier
The free tier includes a limited number of scans per calendar day and access to the ingredient library. We may adjust free-tier limits with notice in the app.
5.2 Formulate Pro
- Pro is an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or annual) purchased through Apple's App Store or Google Play. Prices are shown in the app before purchase and may vary by region.
- Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- To cancel: use your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; we don't process refunds directly.
- If a subscription lapses or a payment fails, Pro features stop at the end of the paid period. Your account and data remain.

6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to provide medical advice to others, or present its output as clinical guidance.
- Scrape, bulk-export, resell, or redistribute our ingredient library, evidence data, or verdicts.
- Reverse engineer, probe, or interfere with the Service, its API, or its security measures, except where law permits.
- Upload content that is unlawful or infringes others' rights.
- Misrepresent your identity or automate account creation.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
7. Intellectual property
The Service — including the app, website, ingredient library, evidence summaries, verdict logic, and branding — is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial use. Product names and barcode data belong to their respective owners.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) AUD $50.
Australian Consumer Law: nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice where practicable). Sections 2, 3, 7, 8, and 11 survive termination.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we'll notify you in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Minor changes (typos, clarifications) take effect immediately and are reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts — except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of your place of residence applies instead.
